Eva is Co-Founder and General Partner at Legalist. She is a licensed attorney and leads the company's team as well as manages fundraising and strategy for the company. Before co-founding Legalist in 2016, Eva studied economics at Harvard College. She is a member of the Board of Visitors at Princeton Theological Seminary and is a pro bono tenant attorney at the Asian Law Caucus and the Law Office of Eva Shang
Christian is Co-Founder and General Partner at Legalist. He is a licensed attorney and manages the company's entire front office as well as oversees its technology arm. Before co-founding Legalist in 2016, Christian studied economics and computer science at Harvard College. He is also the co-founder and sits on the board of directors of Compound Planning, a ~$4.5B AUM digital family office.
Brian Rice is Legalist's General Counsel. He manages the legal and compliance functions at the company and is a member of its valuation committee. Brian joined Legalist in 2020 with more than a decade of legal and operational experience. Brian is a graduate of Boston College and Columbia Law School.
Brian Stout is Government Receivables Investment Lead at Legalist. He joined the Company in 2024 from a distressed debt fund manager, having previously taught mathematics the Claremont Keck Graduate Institute and served as an officer in the U.S. Navy.
Brian is a graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and CUNY Graduate Center.
Cindy is is Head of Credit & Structuring at Legalist. A graduate of New York University and St. John's University School of Law, she is a senior member of the firm's investment team, working across investment sourcing, due diligence, and structuring / documentation. Cindy joined Legalist in 2024, with more than 20 years of experience at Milbank Tweed and Kirkland & Ellis, as well as in investment roles at Whitebox Advisors and AIG Investments.
David Jang is Portfolio Manager at Legalist. He joined the Company in 2022 from Bardin Hill. Previously, David worked at Och-Ziff, MoloLamken, and Watchell, Lipton.
David is a graduate of Stanford University and its Law School.
Judge Fogel is Executive Director of the Berkeley Judicial Institute at UC Berkeley Law School, former federal judge for the Northern District of California and immediate past Director of the Federal Judicial Center. In addition to his twenty years of federal judicial service, Judge Fogel also served as a judge of the Santa Clara County (California) Superior (1986-1998) and Municipal (1981-1986) Courts.
He has received numerous accolades, including the President’s Award for Outstanding Service to the California Judiciary from the California Judges Association and the Vanguard Award from the State Bar of California for notable contributions to intellectual property law.
John Witchel is an advisor to Legalist and is the former president of web development firm Xcom and cofounder of peer-to-peer lending marketplace Prosper, which has raised $350 million in funding at a valuation of more than $1.9 billion. John has led technical teams for over 20+ years and is currently the President/COO of Gitprime.
William von Mueffling is an advisor to Legalist and is president of Cantillon Capital Management, an investment firm with more than $13 billion under management. Mr. von Mueffling was previously a managing director at Lazard Asset Management, where he was responsible for hedge funds. Prior to joining Lazard, he was with Deutsche Bank in Germany and France.
He earned a BA from Columbia College and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
Caroline Meneau joined Legalist as an Investment Counsel in September 2025. Prior to joining Legalist, Caroline was a Partner at Jenner & Block in Chicago, where she had a broad commercial litigation practice. Caroline graduated from Harvard Law School and did her undergraduate studies at the College of William and Mary.
Harry Sanchez is a Financial Analyst at Legalist. He is responsible for financial modeling and analysis of potential investments across the Company's portfolios. Before joining Legalist in 2024, Harry interned at a number of alternative asset managers.
Harry is a graduate of Harvey Mudd College and the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
Jared Danziger is Senior Investment Counsel at Legalist. He underwrites potential investments in the Company's Litigation Finance strategy. Jared joined Legalist in 2021, having previously worked at Bernstein Litowitz and Credit Suisse.
Jared is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law.
Jeremy Gillick is Investment Counsel at Legalist. He underwrites potential investments in the Company's Litigation Finance strategy. Jeremy joined Legalist in 2021, having worked most recently at Allen Matkins.

Lauren Valastro is Investment Counsel at Legalist. She underwrites potential investments in the Company's Litigation Finance strategy. Before joining Legalist in 2022, Lauren was a partner in the commercial litigation group at Diamond McCarthy.

Livia Fine Biederman is Head of Portfolio Monitoring at Legalist. She is responsible for monitoring and collection of investments across the Company's portfolios. Livia joined Legalist in 2024, having previously worked at Paul Weiss and JFB Legal.

Rebecca leads the underwriting process for the Company’s Government Receivables strategy and is a member of its investment committee. Rebecca joined Legalist in 2021, having previously worked at JPMorgan Chase, Inspira Financial, and Newfi Lending.

Michael Byrnes joined Legalist as our Transactions Counsel in 2025. Prior to joining Legalist, Michael worked as an Associate Attorney at Holland & Knight handling securities-backed and other complex lending transactions for banks and broker-dealers.
Michael graduated from William & Mary Law School and did his undergraduate studies at the University of Notre Dame.
