Litigation finance vs. private equity

The litigation finance market today bears similarities to private equity

For many investors in litigation finance today, litigation finance looks much like the emerging private equity market in the 1970s. Legalist provides litigation finance, or litigation funding, for many businesses involved in litigation or arbitration and which are venture/private equity backed. For those private equity firms, litigation finance can be used not just as an investment avenue, but also as a way of de-risking their portfolio companies.

Here at Legalist, we work with hedge funds, private equity funds, VC funds, and litigation finance funds as our investors. We manage a closed-end fund, and help many of these investors deploy their capital in sustainable, uncorrelated assets that simultaneously help increase access to justice in the American legal system.
