The ABA Construction Forum Fall Meeting took us to Miami Beach. Aside from the fabulous beaches, exciting night life, people watching galore and entertainment for your entire family, a blockbuster CLE Program marked the perfect way to bid farewell to Summer and move into the Fall season. Our Program entitled "We Won't Get Fooled Again: Lessons Learned in the Economic Downturn" featured exceptional construction lawyers offering hands-on experience in dealing with troubled and bankrupt projects, innovative ideas to assist your clients in securing payment in a tough economy, cutting edge tips for drafting takeover agreements, insight into where the ethical line is drawn with respect to expert reports, a primer on common mistakes in reading blueprints, and other practical survival tips intended to help you best serve your clients. Our luncheon speaker was Mark Curriden, author of Contempt of Court: The Turn of the Century Lynching That Launched a Hundred Years of Federalism. Mr. Curriden engaged us with the riveting story of how a 1906 lynching in Tennessee contributed to a significant expansion of the U.S. Supreme Court's jurisdiction, thereby helping to set the stage for the Civil Rights Movement and underscoring the importance of diversity in both our legal system and society. This Program presented a unique opportunity to meet up with colleagues in a relaxed, casual atmosphere and to spend the last days of summer with your family in a perfect combination of fabulous accommodations, great CLE, networking, and fun in the sun. Your comments and suggestions about the CD, Web Site and the Forum are always welcome. Give Us Your Feedback...
